Beginner Smoothie 1

Ingredients

avocado
1
lime, peeled and seeded
1
organic apple, cut into quarters
1⁄2
banana (frozen ahead if you remember to do it)
 
up to ¼ cup raw almonds
2 tablespoons
coconut milk (more to taste)
1
organic egg yolk
2
leaves of kale or other greens
1⁄4 bunch
fresh cilantro

Instructions

Process all ingredients except for kale and cilantro until smooth and creamy. It will be like pudding, not a shake. (Add water while it's blending if you want to drink it.) When you're finished blending it, pour out half of it and save.

Put the greens into the processor or blender with a little water. Process that with the remaining fruit smoothie. 

Note: You could process everything together, but some people have a hard time getting started on smoothies because they don’t find the greens palatable. By dividing the smoothie, you can drink the green one first and have the pudding-like one for "dessert." As your taste buds adjust, you are likely to develop a taste for more green.  (Recipe♦183)
